Gigabyte Radeon AI PRO R9700 AI TOP 32 GB: what to verify before buying
This card answers a different question from a high-end gaming GPU: can the required AI workload remain in 32 GB of local memory, using a supported software stack? A lower price than a GeForce flagship would not establish equal gaming speed, CUDA compatibility or rental revenue.

Ask for the revision, not just โR9700 32 GBโ
Gigabyte publishes separate revision pages. The dimensions and outputs above agree on those pages, but that does not establish that every internal part or firmware is identical. Obtain a photograph of the box label or the exact revision from the Canadian seller. Confirm the included adapter, return eligibility and the warranty that applies to the intended workload.
A 32 GB decision is a software decision too
Before purchase, identify the exact model or image workflow, operating system, driver and AMD backend. A working demonstration should include the desired context or image resolution, not simply loading the weights. Record peak memory, generation rate and power at the wall. Two cards do not automatically become one transparent 64 GB GPU; the application must support splitting the workload.
When we would consider it
Consider the R9700 when 16 GB is a demonstrated capacity limit and the complete workload already works on the supported AMD stack. Keep a GeForce or another supported platform on the shortlist when a specific application, plug-in or hosting marketplace requires it. We have no first-hand R9700 throughput, noise or paid-occupancy measurements. This is a documented buying analysis, not an owner review.
