RTX 5090 Price in Canada: Buy Now or Wait Until Black Friday 2026?
September 30: Gigabyte Gaming OC up CAD 500, still out of stock
Memory Express now lists the new Gigabyte RTX 5090 Gaming OC, MPN GV-N5090GAMING OC-32GD, at CAD 6,799.99. That is CAD 500 above the CAD 6,299.99 recorded on September 11 for the same listing, model and condition.
Memory Express listing rechecked September 30, 2026. The card remains unavailable online and at every listed store. This out-of-stock price is neither a purchasable offer nor the Canadian new-card floor; the observed increase does not confirm a broader shortage.
September 29: the Newegg listing again shows the exact WATERFORCE
The Gigabyte AORUS RTX 5090 XTREME WATERFORCE, MPN GV-N5090AORUSX W-32GD, is now listed at CAD 9,785.90 with add to cart. It is sold and shipped by Slava Computers from Israel; final delivery, duties, brokerage and the delivered total were not validated.
Newegg listing rechecked September 29, 2026. The listed price is CAD 2,093 above the September 11 check for the same model. This is a third-party import, not a Canadian new-card floor; the observed increase does not establish a broader shortage.
September 20: the former Newegg listing redirects to a different product
The archived URL for the Gigabyte AORUS RTX 5090 XTREME WATERFORCE now redirects to an AORUS RTX 5090 AI BOX, MPN GV-N5090IXEB-32GD, listed at CAD 10,103.90. The page shows add to cart, a third-party seller—Slava Computers—and shipping from Israel; final delivery and import charges were not validated.
Newegg listing rechecked September 20, 2026. This is no longer the same product as the WATERFORCE offer recorded at CAD 7,692.90 on September 11. The price difference therefore does not measure an increase for the same model, and this import does not define a Canadian new-card floor.
September 18: the Founders Edition remains CAD 2,899.99, with no stock
Best Buy still lists the new RTX 5090 Founders Edition at CAD 2,899.99, sold and shipped directly by Best Buy. It remains sold out online and is now explicitly unavailable for store pickup. The listed price has not changed since the September 11 check; only the pickup status, previously unconfirmed, is now explicit.
Best Buy listing rechecked September 18, 2026. A listed price on a sold-out page is not a purchasable offer or the current floor for a new RTX 5090 in Canada.
September 15: the CAD 6,699 MSI listing has been withdrawn
Canada Computers now says the MSI RTX 5090 GAMING TRIO OC 32 GB is no longer available and shows no current price on this listing. On September 13, the same URL still displayed CAD 6,699, sold out online and at every listed store. This is a listing-status change, not a new price measurement or proof of a broader shortage.
MSI listing rechecked September 15, 2026. No deliverable product, third-party seller, shipping origin or final charges can be confirmed from this withdrawn page. The September 13 price was CAD 199.01 above the August 26 check (CAD 6,499.99), about 3.1%; it remains in the history without defining the Canadian new-card floor.
RTX 5090: high prices, limited availability and variants to watch
If you are shopping for an RTX 5090, check actual stock and the exact version before paying. In the stores I checked on the evening of September 11, many cards were sold out or on backorder. The remaining available offers I saw were considerably more expensive. That makes shopping harder, but my observation alone does not confirm a Canada-wide shortage.
Personal observation by Mick — evening of September 11, 2026. Added September 12; the retailer observations below retain their original dates.
What I noticed when shopping and renting
I follow prices for my own projects, so these changes affect me directly. On the evening of September 11, I found far fewer appealing options for buying a 5090.
I also checked Clore and Vast. The rental rates I saw had risen sharply. On Vast in particular, there were barely any available ‘verified’ RTX 5090 machines matching my search at that moment.
These are observations from a specific moment: rental listings change with bookings and search filters. They do not establish that every machine was occupied or that purchase and rental prices were rising for the same reason.
A cheaper 5090… but which version?
Watch out for the RTX 5090 D V2: it has 24 GB of memory, compared with 32 GB on the standard RTX 5090. This variant for the Chinese market therefore has 8 GB less memory. For memory-heavy AI workloads, that difference can change what you are able to run. NVIDIA D V2 specifications · Standard RTX 5090
While shopping, I also noticed listings for ‘D’ variants at prices close to those I had seen for 32 GB cards earlier in the week. Check each model number: ‘D’ alone does not automatically mean 24 GB.
- Model and memory: RTX 5090, D or D V2; 24 or 32 GB.
- Condition and availability: new, open-box or used; in stock or on backorder.
- Seller and shipping: direct retailer or third-party seller, shipping origin and charges.
- Warranty and returns: terms that apply to your purchase in Canada.
My takeaway before buying
Personally, I would not rush just because listings are disappearing. At these prices, I want to know exactly which card I am buying and how much it will cost delivered.
A price on a sold-out listing is not an immediate buying option. And a 24 GB D V2 does not become equivalent to a 32 GB card just because it costs the same.
Limited availability and high prices are worth following. The cause remains unconfirmed. This observation describes my searches on the evening of September 11, not the entire market at all times.

Check listing and seller ↗At the September 11 check, Best Buy listed the FE at CAD 2,899.99, sold out online; pickup was not confirmed. The September 18 follow-up now confirms it is also unavailable for pickup. The Canada Computers page timed out during the September 11 check; the September 13 and 15 follow-ups separately preserve the MSI price and the later listing withdrawal. The Newegg WATERFORCE remains a historical observation: its URL redirected to a different AI BOX on September 20, then showed the exact model again on September 29.
What I would do for each need
GAMING ONLY
I would set a spending limit before browsing. If your current card satisfies you, stockouts elsewhere do not create a reason to replace it. Compare the 5080 if 16 GB is enough, using tests of your games.
5080 or 5090: the trade-offs →PAID COMPUTE
Start with a workload and revenue you have actually observed. Add the card, unrecovered taxes, power supply, cooling and electricity, then test lower occupancy. A higher purchase price does not guarantee a higher rental rate.

Stockouts and expensive listings are visible. But comparing an MSI available for store pickup on August 26 with an imported AORUS in the September 11 check does not measure a change in the same offer. The personal account above does not include matched before-and-after prices for the same offers, so it cannot quantify a market-wide 24-hour increase.
A shortage is a possible explanation, not a cause established by these listings alone. Premium models, third-party sellers and missing stock can also push visible prices upward. The next check needs to compare the same model, seller and condition.
What actually changed since the previous check
Memory Express’s Gigabyte Gaming OC was recorded at CAD 6,169.99 on August 26, CAD 6,299.99 on September 11, then CAD 6,799.99 on September 30. The latest check is CAD 500 higher, but the card remains out of stock: this is a listed-price change, not proof of availability or a broader shortage.

SCENARIOS · NOT PROMISES
We no longer give a precise December range without a supported forecasting model. Retail restocks, a genuinely purchasable FE or deeper stockouts would change the decision; none has a certain date here.
Black Friday 2026
Watch the delivered price of the exact model, not just the discount percentage. A higher crossed-out price does not necessarily beat the previous week’s offer.
What would invalidate this outlook
A confirmed restock, a change in seller, condition or price, or failure to deliver to the selected postal code calls for a new check. The observations above remain dated; they do not refresh on every visit.
Methodology and last verified
Main listing snapshot from September 11, 2026, supplemented by Canada Computers checks on September 13 and 15, Best Buy on September 18, Newegg on September 20 and 29, and Memory Express on September 30. At the latest check, Best Buy remained sold out at CAD 2,899.99, the Memory Express ASUS Astral was out of stock at CAD 6,899.99, the Gigabyte Gaming OC was out of stock at CAD 6,799.99, the Canada Computers listing remained withdrawn, and the Newegg import remained CAD 9,785.90. Model, listed price, stock, condition, seller and shipping origin are recorded separately; no order or postal-code delivery validation was performed. History retains its dates. Used, open-box and imported offers do not define the price of a new card sold directly in Canada.
Official NVIDIA specifications ↗Frequently asked questions
Does the displayed price include every charge?
Not necessarily. Before comparing, add the card price, shipping and applicable taxes. For an import, also check which customs or brokerage charges remain payable by you; an unknown amount is not zero.
Can an in-store card be shipped to my address?
Not necessarily. Local pickup availability does not confirm shipping. Check the options using your postal code before including that offer in your budget.
